I believe the only way to overcome entrenched, structural inequities is to intentionally confront them. I do this by applying an equity lens to my work—the process as well as the products and outcomes.
The right questions open up relationships, insights, possibilities and more. I try to turn judgment into curiosity; disagreement into shared exploration; defensiveness into self-reflection; and assumptions into questions. (Inspired by HSDI.)
